Four years ago, on March 25, 2006, after a heroic fight Rocio Dúrcal lost her battle to cancer. She died at her home in Torrelodones, Madrid. She was only 61 years old. The world lost one of the most beloved singers of the Latin music world. Her ashes were divided in halves and currently rest in Madrid and Mexico City.

Her style has influenced many female mariachi and ranchera singers from Mexico as well as the Hispanic community of the United States.

Rocio Dúrcal has sold more than 53 million records worldwide.

For her work as a recording artist, Dúrcal was inducted into the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico City.
